Meet Kristy Gargano

Kristy Gargano, MSW, LCSW, CYT is a licensed clinical social worker, digital course instructor with trauma-specific training who uses a holistic approach to support her client’s unique and individual needs. She obtained her master’s in social work at Aurora University and maintains her Illinois and Texas licensure with up-to-date, relevant trainings. Through her work, Kristy has experience working with teens, young/emerging adults, adults, couples, and families, but the present focus in her practice includes women's issues:

*Stress & Stress-related Illness

*Relationship struggles

*identity in parenthood

*Infertility struggles

*Anxiety & Depression

*Trauma and emotional neglect

*Self-esteem

Kristy understands that therapy is not “one-size-fits-all”, and believes everyone has different needs. She strives to provide personalized and practical care that also utilizes evidence-based and experiential approaches such as EMDR (recently trained and working toward certification), Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Yoga-informed psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Neuroaffective Relational Model (NARM) among others, and continues to learn and be informed on techniques that best serve her client’s needs. Most importantly, Kristy is dedicated to her clients, finds and highlights their strengths, and walks alongside them on their journey to live their lives more fully.

While an Illinoisan at heart, Kristy recently moved to Austin, TX with her husband, son and senior dachshund and is exploring all it has to offer. When not working, Kristy enjoys spending time with her family, working out, trying new restaurants, traveling, getting outdoors, reading, and making time to journal or do art.
